Claire Wise

Sexologist/Educator

Claire Wise is a dynamic and dedicated sexologist and educator, driven by a profound passion for enhancing individuals' understanding and experiences of sexuality. Beginning her SexWise journey with a Bachelor's degree in Counselling from the Australian College of Applied Psychology, Claire furthered her expertise with a Master of Science in Medicine with a specialization in Sexual and Reproductive Health.

 

With a comprehensive academic background, Claire has seamlessly transitioned into the realm of practical application, working in a one on one environment with clients in sex therapy since 2021. Her approach is characterized by empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to fostering healthy and fulfilling sexual lives for her clients.

 

Claire's journey into the field of sexology was enriched by invaluable experiences, including two and a half years in adult retail management. This unique blend of academic knowledge and hands-on exposure has equipped her with a nuanced understanding of diverse perspectives on sexuality and the practical tools to match.

 

Moreover, Claire's dedication extends beyond traditional therapeutic settings. Her tenure at SECCA, where she devoted almost two years to supporting individuals with disabilities in their exploration of sexuality, underscores her inclusive and compassionate approach to sexual education and advocacy.

 

In her multifaceted role as a sexologist and educator, Claire continues to make profound contributions to the field, empowering individuals to embrace their sexuality with confidence, compassion, and understanding.

Alysha Oorjitham

Occupational Therapist/Educator

Alysha embodies a profound dedication to empowering individuals in their journey towards fulfilling and pleasurable lives as sexual beings. As an Occupational Therapist (OT), she champions the celebration of diverse sexual identities, LGBTQIA+ exploration, and advocates tirelessly for accessible sex and relationship education.

 

Alysha's academic journey underscores her commitment to excellence and innovation in her field. With a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (Honours) already under her belt, she is currently pursuing a Graduate Diploma in Sexology, further expanding her expertise and insight into human sexuality.

 

Alysha's work is guided by a holistic approach, recognizing the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, and social well-being. She embraces comprehensive sex education as a powerful tool for harm prevention, promoting understanding, inclusivity, and empowerment in all aspects of sexual health.

 

Alysha has previously worked as an OT, counsellor/consultant, and education officer at organisations including SECCA and Down South Therapy, where she channels her passion into practical action. She specializes in upskilling and empowering health professionals to provide LGBTQIA+ inclusive and trauma-informed care, particularly for clients with disabilities navigating the complexities of sexuality and gender. Alysha's role allows her to leverage her OT skills in diverse ways, including assisting clients in finding sexual aids tailored to their unique needs and functional requirements.

 

With her unwavering passion, expertise, and commitment to advocacy, Alysha continues to make invaluable contributions to the field of sexual health and education, enriching the lives of individuals and communities alike.

Bonnie Bentley

Sexologist/Educator

Bonnie is a bright and bubbly ball of energy who is currently working in her dream job, as a Sexologist! She believes that sexuality is an innocent and incredibly important thread that runs through each of our lives. Having worked in the exciting field of sexuality for twelve years – first in the adult industry, before pursuing clinical training in sexology – Bonnie is particularly passionate about drawing on her lived experiences to connect with others from a place of true understanding and deep compassion.

 

Bonnie is enthusiastic about learning from, and contributing to, the ever-expanding field of sexuality. She holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology (Honours) and a Masters of Sexology (Professional), and is currently pursuing a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

 

In 2022, Bonnie conducted novel research into intimate partner violence and reproductive coercion towards people with disability. She hopes to conduct further sexological research in the future. Previously, Bonnie has worked in the not-for-profit sector contributing to research on intimate partner violence and reproductive coercion at Sexual Health Quarters, and as a sexuality and relationships counsellor and educator at SECCA.

 

Bonnie takes pride in applying a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to all aspects of her work. Bonnie takes a heart-centred and holistic approach to developing meaningful relationships with clients of all ages.

 

As an advocate for the rights of all people to experience and express their sexuality safely, she believes that feeling present and pleasurable in our bodies has the power to change our lives.
